This project was born through my frustration at the continual portrayal of Cambridge as a purely academic city.

Of course the town is steeped in tradition but behind that vale of pomp and punting the city is home to thousands of "real" people. Around a mile from Kings College is Arbury Court, a council estate community square that houses an assortment of amenities from hairdressers to bakers along with a beautifully eclectic group of locals. I wanted to take away any context, strip back the shots with black and white processing and lay the subjects bare.

Just them.
