The Arbury Project

After living in Cambridge for four years I'd become increasingly frustrated with the City's portrayal as a purely academic city. Photograph after photograph of punting, pomp and tradition.

Less than a mile from King's Parade is Arbury Court, a council estate housing some of the most brilliantly eclectic characters I've had the pleasure of meeting, along with one truly exceptional butcher. My aim in shooting these portraits was to show a different side of the city than the one we've all seen on postcards and TV dramas.
